SHARE India participates in the third Indo Us Health Care Summit -2010
The third International Indo US Health Care Summit was organised in New Delhi on 2nd and 3rd January 2010. The summit was organised by the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), British Association of Physicians of India Origin (BAPIO), Canadian Association of Physicians of India Heritage (CAPIH), along with local Indian organizations such as IMA, ASI, FOGI, IAP, and ICON.

The international meet was inaugurated by the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Dinesh Trivedi. The objectives of the summit were to Share best practices and experiences from leading experts around the world; Develop actionable plans for launching demonstration projects with focus on prevention, treatment and management of priority disease states in India; and Define measurable metrics and ensure that action plans are economically viable. The summit highlighted on the means to improve the health of the rural population in India. The focus of the summit is to bring together some of the world's most renowned experts to focus on priority disease states such as Allergy & Immunology, Cardiovascular, Diabetes, Infectious Disease (HIV/AIDS), Emergency Medicine, Mental Health, Maternal & Child Health, Medical Tourism, Health Information Systems and Women’s Health & Urology.

SHARE India took part in the Infectious Disease (HIV/AIDS) workshop chaired by Dr Vijay V Yeldandi, Secretary General- SHARE India. Before the discussion on the issues commenced, the delegates gave presentations on important issues such as National HIV program details in Care & Treatment; Early infant diagnosis – the national HIV program initiative; Various models of PPP in HIV care were discussed in India; Lab Quality Assurance Programme for Counselling and Testing Programs in Private sector in AP; and HIV Testing Kits initiatives (Oral & whole blood) in Research mode.

Soon after, the group came up with recommendations like Scale up of HIV Drug Resistance surveillance program; To study the impact on prescription of drugs for ART after six months based on data from resistance surveillance; National level consultations with private sector for Public Private Partnership (PPP); Lab Quality assurance system in Public and Private sector to be expanded; Operational research support to provide evidence for the National HIV programme.
At the end of the two-day session, the recommendations were drafted and presented before the delegates and submitted to AAPI. Dr Vijay Yeldandi, Dr Ganesh Oruganti, Dr Dhinakar, Dr Jammy Guru Rajesh, Dr Govind Bansal, Dr Ramesh Reddy and Mr Chandra Kiran Katta represented SHARE India.
