South–to-South collaboration opens avenues for professional advancement and growth to Public Health experts who cannot pursue international collaboration, perhaps due to limited resources or poor international relations. Collaborating with scientists from similar socio-economic and scientific backgrounds can help attune research to a particular country’s needs. These collaborations can also create a critical mass of scientists with the necessary momentum to solve challenging problems. Under the South–South collaboration PHMI will work with NGOs or preferably with PEPFAR USG partners in the South on shared problems like HIV Prevention, Care, Strategic Information, and Systems strengthening components. To do this, PHMI will promote faculties and students of India to visit the developing countries through student faculty exchange program and also encourage the potential public health experts to go for exposure tours, meetings, and conferences and under go short term trainings .
