Short and long term in-service human capacity building initiative is an essential means of addressing current public health needs in HIV programs in Andhra Pradesh and also at the National level in India. Under NACP III there is a strategic thrust towards evidence-based planning, program decentralization, competency of staff at all levels and science based training approach for staff. The Public Health Field Leaders Fellowship Program (PHFLFP) is one such program dealing with the science of public health for professionals already working in the field of program planning, monitoring and implementation. This is a one year on-the-job training program with six contact weeks, for 25 mid-career public health professionals from Government or NGO sector working in the field of HIV and AIDS. Every contact week follows a particular theme like project management, communication and advocacy, project management skills development, community assessments, science-based interventions design, and evidence-based planning. The program adopts its curriculum from the highly acclaimed CDC- Field Epidemiologist Training Program (FETP) and Data for Decision Making (DDM) program. |
